Chitosan (a derivative of chitin) is an exciting biostimulant available for use on turf grass. It enhances turf resistance to disease and pests as well as improving drought and frost resistance.
In addition to its direct effects on plant nutrition and growth stimulation, chitosan has been found to induce plant defences and stimulate the activity and growth of beneficial microbes.
- Increases resistance to abiotic stress (drought, salinity, cold)
- Improves resistance to disease and pests
- Various plants treated with chitosan have been shown to have lower incidence of fusarium wilts
